Emily Williams is a 2015 M.A.T. graduate. She received her licensure in mathematics, grades 5-12. Her love for math began during her childhood in Birmingham, Alabama, and it has since taken her around the country and the globe. She completed two years of service with AmeriCorps; one year with City Year in Columbia, South Carolina and the other with 4-H Capital in Austin, Texas. During these two years, she instantly discovered the desperate need for influential math teachers. This is what brought her to Mount Holyoke.
The M.A.T program had all of the elements that Emily was hoping to find: constant support from peers and staff, rigor, and enthusiasm for education. She completed her student teaching at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School in South Hadley, MA where she taught middle school math for two years. She has since moved south and now lives in Alpharetta, Georgia. She is currently teaching 7th grade math at Amana Academy, a K-8 Expeditionary Learning school.
