Born in Cali, Colombia, Gabi spent her early years in Colombia and Brazil before moving to Florida. A graduate of Cornell University in 2015, she earned her B.S. in Human Development with a concentration in Human Neuroscience. She minored in Education, which helped her realize her passion for working with children. It also helped her discover the fascinating intersection between the educational field and neuroscience and cognitive development, which is something she hopes to pursue.
Gabi has played the violin and piano both for over fifteen years, and has been involved in teaching private lessons as well as working with music programs in minority communities. She also has experience as a respite worker, providing support and skill development for children with mental disabilities.
She pursued her elementary licensure from Mount Holyoke’s M.A.T. program. She was very excited to be a part of such an intensive and immersive program that incorporates the EL Education model. She is especially interested in promoting and incorporating social justice in the classroom.
