Massachusetts born and bred, Jenn has been a resident in the Pioneer Valley since 2001. She graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in Philosophy and earned an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Virginia. Her teaching career began at UVA, where she taught composition, medieval literature, Shakespeare, and her own seminar on Renaissance drama. After graduate school, she taught at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols School in Cambridge, MA, and then served as Chair of the English department at Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield for five years. She was honored at SBS to earn the Student Council Teacher appreciation award twice and the Trustees' Award for teaching. She also was chosen as speaker for the 2009 graduating class.
After spending some time helping to launch her family's start-up company, Chylack Inc., Jenn is returning to teaching with a focus on the challenges of public education. She is eager to bring her passion and enthusiasm for learning into a context in which all students have an opportunity to reach their goals. To that end, she sought additional licensure in Special Education and English Language Learning through the add-on components of Mount Holyoke's M.A.T. program.
The courses, the small cohort, and the dynamic, involved leadership of the M.A.T. program drew Jenn to Mount Holyoke.
