Lincoln Smith is North Carolina native. In 2002 Lincoln attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Jazz Composition. There he had the privilege to study guitar with jazz great John Thomas, guitarist for Charles Tolliver, Dizzy Gillespie and Joe Henderson.
In 2004 Lincoln toured Europe with the internationally renowned ska band Regatta 69, playing hundreds of shows and seven festivals in ten countries. Additionally Lincoln has performed with Johnny Hickman of 90’s rock band Cracker, Ed Anderson of Backyard Tire Fire, national touring act Bombadil, 2005 Boston Phoenix’s Best Americana Act The Resurrectionists, and artists from the Music Makers Relief Foundation Macavine Hayes and Haskel “Whistlin' Britches” Thompson.
Lincoln discovered his love of teaching ten years ago when he began teaching guitar privately. He has taught hundreds of students over the years, some of whom have pursued music degrees at Berklee, Emerson and UMass Lowell.
Working as an after-school enrichment teacher at Prospect Hill Charter in Somerville, Lincoln took greater notice of the income disparities in access to art education. Here Lincoln found many talented young people without the means to explore their interests in music. For this reason, Lincoln decided to return to school and pursue music education full time.
Lincoln pursued his initial license in Music and an additional license in Moderate Disabilities at Mount Holyoke.
