Noelle Noyes graduated from Amherst College with a degree in European studies and fluency in German. Noelle then earned a master's degree in European studies from the University of Osnabruck and afterwards spent two years doing high-tech strategy consulting. She began volunteering at an animal shelter in Boston and rekindled a desire—something she had held since growing up on a farm in New York—to become a veterinarian.
Noelle completed the 18 courses required for admission to vet school at Mount Holyoke and through the Five College Consortium, which allowed her to enroll in animal science courses at UMass. She worked in biology professor Gary Gillis's research lab accruing hundreds of hours interning with veterinarians and was later accepted to the combined D.V.M./Ph.D. program at Colorado State University.
