Susan Harp compressed her medical school preparation into one year in the postbaccalaureate program and entered UMass Medical School in 2003. After graduating in 2007, Dr. Harp began her residency in pediatrics at Baystate Medical Center. Her residency consists of both inpatient and outpatient work, including her own panel of patients in inner-city Springfield, mostly high risk/lower socioeconomic families. The inpatient part includes all aspects of hospitalized children's care, from neonatal intensive care to adolescent inpatient medicine.
“I chose pediatric medicine because it combines an intellectual challenge with the opportunity to play for a living," Susan says. "I chose Mount Holyoke College because it combines high academic standards with a community of warm and gifted people.”
