Summer Institute Details

Daily Schedule

Attending a summer institute requires a serious commitment. Sessions are held between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Eastern Time Monday through Thursday and 8:30 am and 12:30 pm on Friday. In addition, reading and writing assignments are scheduled for each evening.

Cost

The non-credit price for a one-week summer institute is $549. This includes lunch Monday through Friday.

Credits

Each institute can be taken for two graduate credits from Mount Holyoke College at the rate of $775 per credit, or $1550 per institute.

Schools that contract with Michael Flynn, Director, Math Programs and/or Sarah Bent, Assistant Director, Math Programs for professional learning are considered partner districts. Teachers from partner districts receive a 50% discount on for-credit registrations.

Meals and Accommodations

All program fees include lunch on Monday through Friday. Participants will make their own arrangements for other meals and overnight accommodations.

Mathematical Leadership Programs (MLP) summer institutes are held on the Mount Holyoke College campus in South Hadley, Massachusetts. The campus is within walking distance to some nice restaurants and small shops. Class sessions and lunch will take place on campus. Free parking is available.

Participants should arrange airline travel so they are present for the entire institute. We strongly recommend that you fly into Bradley International Airport (Hartford), as it is the closest major airport to the college.

South Hadley is a small New England town. Hotels are located in neighboring cities and towns within a 15-20 minute drive of Mount Holyoke College. We recommend Homewood Suites in Holyoke, MA because they offer complimentary breakfast and evening socials with appetizers and beverages each day.
