Email Peggy Gillespie
Peggy Gillespie was the first assistant director of the UMass Medical Center's Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program. She is a Community Dharma Leader, trained at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California, and teaches meditation locally at the Insight Pioneer Valley Center in Eashampton, MA. She is a journalist and has several books published and she leads creative writing workshops at Smith College. Peggy is also the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Family Diversity Projects, a national nonprofit organization in Amherst, MA that helps fight prejudice and stereotyping of people who are marginalized (Family Diversity Projects), including at high schools and colleges. Several of their photo-text exhibits have been shown at Mount Holyoke. In addition, she has taught meditation and Improvisational Acting at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School. Peggy is Co-Advisor, along with Adi Bemak, to our Buddhist community here at Mount Holyoke College.
