Thanks again for your patience as we implement this new lottery system and software! We are so excited to share the new system with you.
The link to access Residence, the new lottery system is here: Mount Holyoke Residence
We "soft opened" Residence on Friday, April 10th at noon to allow students to login and look around. No selections will begin during the soft open but students will be able to play around with forming groups and selecting favorites, etc. We are then planning for three lottery phases, all done online and with assigned selection times, very similar to how class selection happens.
The phases will be:
Suites and Apartments (All classes eligible)
April 17th -- 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Singles (Seniors and Juniors only)
April 20 and 21 -- 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Doubles and Triples (All classes eligible)
April 23, 24 and 27 -- 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Each phase's selection time assignment will be based on seniority -- rising seniors will have the first selection times, then rising juniors, then rising sophomores. Selection times will be randomly assigned within the class year. No other factors will be involved in the assignment of time, it will be completely random within the class year. Any rumors about it being based on credits earned or GPA are false and have never been a consideration.
Each lottery phase has an opt-in process; students will need to choose to participate in the first two phases if they want to and are eligible to. For example, a rising junior may want to try for a suite with their friends and should they not get one, they can then opt in to the singles process. If they are not able to get a single, they will be automatically added to the double/triple process. We'll automatically add all rising sophomores to the double/triple phase after the suites/apartments phase.
You'll have the ability to make a list of "favorites" of the available rooms so you can start a list of all the options you'd like to consider when your selection time arrives. You can also create a "roommate group" within the system to make sure you are sharing a room, suite or apartment with the people you wish to live with. You'll need to have a roommate group the exact size of the space you are hoping for -- for example, you will need to have four people in your roommate group in order to select a suite in Creighton or three people in your group to choose the apartment in the Rockies.
We will only assign the amount of time slots to match spaces we have, so students will know right after we ask the system to assign times if they will be able to get into a suite/apartment or a single.
Living Learning Communities and Language Floors
MacGregor Hall will not be available in lottery this year as we are reserving it for incoming first years as the new home of the First Year Focus community. We are still ironing out details of the Living Learning Community in Pearsons Annex and the language floors scheduled for Mead. If you have submitted a proposal form or an interest form for either community, please still participate in the lottery at your designated time. We will change your assignment to the appropriate place if you are selected for either community but it will not be finalized prior to the start of lottery.
