In Charleston, South Carolina, Anne Rhett achieved her dream of starting an after-school arts program for children. Anne was awarded two grants for her project, called Paint It Palmetto. She recruited 25 volunteers, held 15 different classes, and even created a logo for the project (using the palmetto, South Carolina's state tree). While working on her project, Anne tapped into other teen activits online and published two articles in Charleston's leading newspaper. Paint It Palmetto has a bright future: next year the program will offer more than 20 weekly classes to children ages 8-12.
Anne's project got the attention of the Post and Courier, Charleston, SC newspaper. Read the article!
