What does leadership in public service mean and what does it look like? What does it mean to be an influential leader as an elected official, a policy advocate, or a public servant? And what does this mean for women? In this 6 week mini-course “Leadership and Public Service,” we will examine research literature and case examples from different aspects of the public service realm, such as political office, diplomatic corps, government service, and public advocacy. Topics will include leadership capacities, diplomacy, and negotiation, working with constituents, and women’s career development including effective mentoring and networking. (Spring 2013. 1 credit. Course registration will be available on ISIS in the Fall. Pre-requisite: Open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors)
