Becoming a restavec

The process of a becoming a restavec starts with a commonly understood lie. An agent goes to a rural area and suggests to a family that their children, ranging from ages of four through fifteen, go to the city to work as domestic servants, in exchange for an education, food, shelter, and clothing. The child is sent with the agent for money. The agent brings the child to another home. Oftentimes, the child works all day and does not get a chance to go to school.
