Hawaiian Sovereignty Movement

Beginning immediately following the Bayonet Constitution, and continuing to this day, there arose many different royalist groups formed in support of the Hawaiian monarchy.  Today, many different groups still exist who still support some form of Hawaiian sovereignty.  There are those with the view that both the overthrow and annexation were illegal actions, and that Hawaii has been under military occupation by the United States since then.  Some groups advocate a “nation within a nation” solution similar to many native American reservations in existence on the US mainland.  Some think Hawaii should separate itself from the United States entirely.
