Phillip Campanile

Phillip is an urban political ecologist and environmental humanist. He is interested in understanding how ecological knowledge production combines with political economic forces to misapprehend and misconstrue the relationship between settler colonial histories and speculative climate futures in the postindustrial landscapes of the Great Lakes region. Born of his engagement in critical theory, he works to develop new forms of landscape analysis and interpretation that combines environmental history, natural history, and walking methodologies. His time in postindustrial landscapes has also led to an interest in Anthropocene flora, new ecologies, and the discourse of “invasive” species.
