Mount Holyoke College ranks highly
Mount Holyoke College was recently lauded by U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review and Washington Monthly.
Mount Holyoke College was recently lauded by U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review and Washington Monthly in their recent rankings of colleges and universities.
In its 2022 Best Colleges ranking, released on Sept. 13, U.S. News & World Report ranked Mount Holyoke College #30 for National Liberal Arts Colleges, up four positions from its ranking of #34 last year. Mount Holyoke is tied with Berea, Bryn Mawr, Kenyon and Scripps colleges.
The College was additionally recognized among the best by the publication for Best Undergraduate Teaching, Most International Students and Best Value Schools.
President Sonya Stephens said, “We are confident that Mount Holyoke continues to compete with the very best schools in the nation and the world.”
The Princeton Review included Mount Holyoke in its 2022 edition of the “Best 387 Colleges” list but didn’t tally its annual ranking lists of top 20 colleges in 62 categories this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “With the majority of college students off campuses, attending their college remotely, we were not able to survey them about their on-campus experiences at their schools to tally our lists,” the publication said.
However, The Princeton Review did include Mount Holyoke on the following lists: Best Northeastern, Best Value Colleges, Great Classroom Experience, Great College Dorms, Great College Library, Great Professors, Green Colleges, LGBTQ Friendly and Most Beautiful Campus.
Mount Holyoke students responding to The Princeton Review’s survey shared their experience of the College. Students said that they feel “pushed to be a smarter person here” and that professors are “wonderful scholars and wonderful people” who are “caring and receptive to concerns” and “incredibly accessible and helpful in and out of office hours.”
President Stephens said, “This student feedback is a terrific reflection of all that makes Mount Holyoke special.”
Mount Holyoke is still ranked by The Princeton Review as #1 for making an impact among private schools and #10 of the best alum networks among private schools.
Washington Monthly also released its 2021 college rankings. The publication ranked Mount Holyoke at #47 for liberal arts colleges as well as #215 on its list “Best Bang for the Buck: Northeast.”
Washington Monthly ranks liberal arts colleges “based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service.”
