Media Access Policy

Mount Holyoke College believes in the right of free inquiry and free expression. We recognize that our mission of thoughtful, effective and purposeful engagement in the world is enhanced by welcoming media to our campus grounds and many of our events. In doing so, the College seeks to balance media access with the privacy and safety of our students, staff, faculty and others we serve.

Visiting Campus

Media who wish to interview staff, faculty or students should contact the Office of Communications and Marketing beforehand, either by calling (413) 538-2899 or by emailing Christian Feuerstein, Director of News & Media Relations at cfeuerst@mtholyoke.edu. Media guests on campus are required to come to the Office of Communications & Marketing (Mary Woolley Hall, basement—see campus map) to receive a press pass before doing any work on campus.

General Guidelines

As a visitor, you’ll be asked to respect the rights of all students, faculty, staff and campus guests not to be photographed, filmed or interviewed without their express consent. This includes B-roll and footage of passersby.

Please remember that our campus is private property. You must obtain advance permission from the Communications office before conducting any interviews, filming or photography. Your request should include a detailed description of the images or interviews sought, proposed arrival and departure dates and times, and names of all crew members. Our office can issue media and parking passes and coordinate with Campus Police to ensure your productive visit.
