Assessment Overview
The Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness (IRE) supports the continuous improvement of an innovative student learning environment by partnering with faculty and staff at all levels of the organization to design efficient, sustainable approaches to measure student learning goals and assist with communicating assessment results to internal and external audiences. Our assessment philosophy is to make information transparent and accessible in order to inform decisions that enhance and support the College's mission to provide an intellectually adventurous education in the liberal arts and sciences through our internationally recognized academic programs.
Key assessment resources and activities include:
- Department Learning Goals
- Institutional Learning Goals
- Assessment Projects
- Teaching and Learning Initiative
An example of our assessment work is presented below. Every spring, the College surveys graduating seniors and asks them to reflect on their fulfillment of Mount Holyoke College's institutional learning goals. The interactive graphics below present Senior Survey items related to our Institutional Learning Goals at the college-level and by area of study.
