Diane Lopez ’82

Diane Lopez ’82, Belmont, Massachusetts, served as an attorney at Harvard University for 30 years, rising to vice president and leading the Office of the General Counsel. In this role she navigated several fundamental challenges to the university, including the end of affirmative action, the burden of mental health difficulties experienced by students and the difficulty of holding down tuition costs.
Lopez received a bachelor’s degree in politics from Mount Holyoke and earned a J.D. from Columbia Law School. She has volunteered for Mount Holyoke as an admissions representative and as a member of the Alum Association Program Committee.
For more than a decade Lopez served on the Board of Trustees of The Institute of Contemporary Art (Boston), including as treasurer. She has been a leader in the Boston Bar, has served as a mentor for ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America) and has been active in the International Women’s Forum of Massachusetts.
