Mariah Rigg

Mariah’s teaching spans courses in advanced and introductory English and creative writing, including fiction writing, place-based creative nonfiction, climate fiction, queer and trans writing, representations of Oceania in popular media, and more.

Rigg is the author of the short story collection, Extinction Capital of the World (Ecco, 2025) and the creative nonfiction chapbook, All Hat, No Cattle (Bull City Press, 2023). She has an MFA from the University of Oregon and a PhD from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Their work has received support from organizations like the National Endowment for the Arts, Lambda Literary, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, MASS MoCA, and others.
