Mount Holyoke College, with the support of the Miller Worley Center for the Environment, has announced its involvement as a host institution sponsor for AASHE’s Global Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education (GCSHE). This three-day event will deliver live interactive sessions, keynote presenters and engaging networking opportunities for innovative professionals and campus change agents. This year the conference will be held virtually, providing the opportunity for an even larger global audience to come together to advance sustainability in higher education.

As the world faces intensifying climate-related disasters, a global pandemic and ongoing systemic racism, many people feel uncertain and apprehensive about the future of sustainability. This year’s GCSHE theme — “The future is … ” — will reflect on these struggles and invite participants to recommit themselves to the urgent work of building a future that is sustainable, equitable and resilient.

Presenters will include Executive Director of Auxiliary Services Rich Perna and Director of Sustainability V.S. (Raghu) Raghavan. Their talk, “Conducting Campus Dining Operations Successfully in the Middle of a Pandemic,” will be an on-demand session.

As a host institution, Mount Holyoke College has 200 free registrations available for students, faculty and staff. Those interested in a registration should contact Jordan Lassonde ’16, assistant director for the Miller Worley Center for the Environment.

“Our host institutions truly champion sustainability advancements in higher education. We are grateful to work with these select colleges and universities that directly contribute to the success of the conference and the sustainability movement as a whole,” said AASHE Executive Director Meghan Fay Zahniser.
