Sara Harda ’19: President and Co-Founder of E-nitiate

The Innovator

Sara Harda ’19, a computer science and anthropology major at Mount Holyoke, understands the powerful influences and possibilities of technology in today’s world. She was a summer intern at Arabella LLC, a software and product development company in New York that works with founders and corporations to turn ideas into products. On the weekends, she works as a digital products associate for Green America. But in her home of Morocco, she was struck by the limited exposure and opportunities of young people in the field of computer science. To address this gap, she cofounded and serves as the president of E-nitiate, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting computer science education in Morocco. For two consecutive summers — with support of USAID, Al-Akhawayn University, and most recently Mount Holyoke College — Sara and her team have run summer coding camps for Moroccan youth. Harda hopes to pursue a career that is at the intersection between technology and social entrepreneurship.

The Project

E-nitiate’s mission is to build a generation of highly skilled, socially conscious Moroccan programmers. Its vision: to promote a widespread computer programming culture at the vanguard of Morocco’s technological revolution.
