MWCE Internships and Awards
As part of the Miller Worley Center’s mission to prepare environmental leaders for today and the future, the Center funds students through the College’s Lynk Initiative to undertake summer internships that are concerned with environmental sustainability and justice.
The Center intends for these internship experiences to help students make connections across disciplines, across points of view and across structures to help them understand the concept of “environment” more broadly in their work, community and lives. The Center encourages students of all academic backgrounds to pursue internships during which they would engage in environmental sustainability and justice and further develop their environmental literacy and critical thinking skills.
All students interested in summer internship opportunities, and particularly those funded through Lynk, should visit the Career Development Center for more information. All internship opportunities will be posted in Handshake.
MWCE student leadership awards
In an effort to recognize the hard-working students within the Miller Worley Center and the incredible initiative of students across the community, the Miller Worley Center is proud to offer awards for student leadership.
Apple Award for Leadership in Campus Sustainability
The Apple Award for Leadership in Campus Sustainability was created to honor our past Director of Sustainability’s lasting contributions to campus. The award honors a student or group of students who have made a significant contribution to campus sustainability and/or have gone above and beyond to help the College to meet its goal of carbon neutrality by 2037. The award is given for exemplary work related to addressing a campus sustainability challenge through a course project or independent study, or to a student or group of students who have demonstrated their commitment to campus sustainability through service and engagement with the community at large.
Miller Worley Center for the Environment Sustainability and Justice Engagement Award
The Miller Worley Center for the Environment Sustainability and Justice Engagement Award was created to recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in engaging the Mount Holyoke community on topics of sustainability and environmental justice and who have supported the Miller Worley Center’s mission to create a greener and more equitable world.
Creating a greener and more equitable world, the Miller Worley Center for the Environment prepares environmental leaders for today and the future by promoting a culture of environmental sustainability and justice on campus and beyond.
