Mount Holyoke College is committed to providing a workplace and educational environment — as well as a range of benefits, programs and activities — that are free from discrimination, harassment and retaliation. To ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, and to affirm our commitment to promoting the goals of fairness and equity in all educational programs and activities, the College has developed internal policies and procedures that provide a prompt, fair and impartial process for those involved in an allegation of sex discrimination or sex-based harassment and for allegations of retaliation.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sex-based harassment, gender-based harassment, sex or gender-based discrimination, sexual assault, and other forms of sexual misconduct, including stalking and domestic and dating violence. On the basis of sex includes sex, gender, sex stereotypes, sex characteristics, & pregnancy or related conditions.
*Individuals who wish to report anonymously may also do so within this form.
Reports can be given to members of Health Services and Counselling Services in the Department of Student Life. This means that reporting to these individuals allows them to keep the information confidential and they do not have to report known information to the Title IX Coordinator.
As a member of the College community, you may be approached regarding an incident of sexual misconduct. If this occurs, it is important to listen, offer support, and connect them to the appropriate resources. If you are a mandated reporter, you should contact a Title IX Coordinator or fill out the reporting form as soon as possible to share the information you received. The College has mandated reporters so that individuals affected by sexual misconduct receive timely and accurate information about the resources and options available to them. This also helps us track and respond to trends and areas of concerns.
In accordance with the Massachusetts Campus Safety Act, Institutions of Higher Education in MA must conduct anonymous sexual misconduct climate surveys of all students every four (4) years. The results of this survey must be posted to the Institutions website for public review.
Mount Holyoke College provides an inclusive and welcoming environment for all pregnant and parenting individuals. Lactation spaces can be found on campus at Mary Woolley Hall and Torrey Hall. For additional information regarding these spaces or pregnant and parenting protections, please contact the Assistant Vice President for Compliance.
In response to 34 CFR Part 106.45(b)(10) of the 2020 Title IX Regulations, Mount Holyoke College is mandated to publicly share the training materials used to educate the Title IX team members. The College works with the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) to provide ongoing education, support and training. Please view training sessions provided by ATIXA.
The Title IX team handles complaints or notice of alleged Title IX policy violations and can also aid complainants in reporting to law enforcement.
