Sarita Gupta ’96

 

Sarita Gupta has extensive experience in nonprofit leadership and management.   She currently serves as the vice president of U.S. programs at the Ford Foundation, overseeing the foundation’s domestic grantmaking and program work to address the political, economic and cultural drivers of inequality. Sarita joined the foundation in 2019 as director of the Future of Work(ers) program, bringing over twenty years of experience in policy advocacy, organizing, and building partnerships having served as the Executive Director of Jobs With Justice. In this capacity, she was on the frontlines of efforts to boost wages, worker voice, and working conditions for all working people and improve labor and civil rights protections for immigrant men and women. She co-founded and co-led Caring Across Generations where she spearheaded a policy campaign calling for a much-needed care infrastructure to provide high-quality, affordable options for individuals and families, support for family caregivers, and the care workforce. She is the co-author of The Future We Need: Organizing for a Better Democracy in the Twenty-First Century.

In addition to the Mount Holyoke College Board, she serves on a number of other nonprofit boards. A Hunt Alternatives Fund Prime Movers Fellow and a graduate of the Rockwood Leadership Training Program, Sarita has received a number of awards and accolades, including the Frances Perkins Open Door Award. She is a recipient of the Mount Holyoke College Alum Achievement Award.
