Underwater Community

Students in the iDesign Studio class in Computer Science and the Costuming II class in the Theater Department teamed up to create this short production.

A short production called “Underwater Community” was the culmination of a semester-long project between Peter Klemperer’s iDesign Studio class in Computer Science and Elizabeth Pangburn’s Costuming II class in the Theater Department. Students from each class paired up to develop the costumes, electronics and programming collaboratively.

“Students found inspiration in bioluminescent animal communities. Each pair of students explored the idea of communication using costuming and choreography. Costumes are able to communicate with one another using various types of computer controlled RGB LED lights and light-sensors,” said Klemperer. “I’m so proud of the students for all the hard work that they put in. I can’t believe how much fun we had!”
