Lydia Malone ’13

Lydia Malone (she/her) serves as the Director of Leadership and Public Service and Associate Director at Mount Holyoke College’s Weissman Center for Leadership. In these roles, she designs and oversees programming that empowers students to engage in nonpartisan civic learning, political engagement, and voter participation, including serving as the staff advisor to MHC Votes! She is dedicated to cultivating strategic partnerships and expanding access to public service.

Prior to her leadership role at the Weissman Center, Lydia spent several years working in higher education administration within the State University of New York (SUNY) system, where she focused on developing and implementing key diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Deeply committed to civic responsibility and removing barriers across Western Massachusetts, Lydia is a Commissioner for the Hampden County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, where she advocates for gender equity and lasting opportunities for women’s leadership and rights. She is also an active member of the League of Women Voters, NASPA (Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education), and the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA).

An alum of Mount Holyoke College, Lydia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies and was the recipient of the Jean Grossholtz Book Prize. She went on to complete a Master of Arts in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University at Albany, SUNY. Her academic background informs her dual approach to public service and student mentorship, bridging feminist theory with actionable civic practice.
