My Summer Journey at PIMCO: Data Analysis and Investment Management

Shennaz Iefa Jemal was a presenter at LEAP Symposium 2021 and shares a bit about her internship experience. Shennaz's presentation was part of a panel titled “Collaboration between Technology and Business.”

Investment management is a rapidly growing sector in the financial industry. It includes handling of various asset classes such as fixed income, equities, commodities, asset allocation, ETFs, hedge funds, and private equity.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to intern at PIMCO as a business management analyst. PIMCO is a global investment management firm focusing on active fixed income. My main responsibility was to build a data catalog for the technology department which is then used to make investment decisions on a daily basis. I also worked with interns from other departments to assess the risks of using robotic process automation to accomplish certain tasks.
