Rebecca Onyango ’17

Academic interests: Economics and international relations

Overview:
I am an intern for the Policy Advocacy Unit in UNICEF.

The work I do changes day to day, but for the past three weeks I have been working collaboratively with Linda Xu ’16 doing research, fact checking, and editing statements that will be used by UNICEF in a financing for development conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Did anyone at MHC help arrange this internship?

Kirk Lange, director of international experiential learning, helped me make contact with UNICEF and helped walk me through my career and intellectual interests and potential options.

How might this internship help you after it ends?

Aside from the career connections and the many networking opportunities that this internship offers, I have gained a lot of valuable knowledge about development, which will allow me to navigate literature, conversations, and future classes on similar matters.
