Sarah Bent

Co-Director, Mathematics Leadership Programs

Sarah Bent is the Co-Director of Mathematics Leadership Programs in the Professional and Graduate Education Division. In this capacity, she oversees the Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics program and supports the professional learning programs for K-8 math teachers locally and nationally.

She also collaborates with Mike Flynn to design our online professional learning offerings. She developed MLP’s microburst series, a free online professional learning series for administrators.

Prior to joining the PaGE team, Bent was a third and fourth grade teacher at New Hingham Regional Elementary School in Chesterfield, MA. She also worked as a visiting instructor for both the Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics programs here at Mount Holyoke College and was also an adjunct faculty member at Westfield State University.

She recently served as a collaborating teacher for a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded research project, “Using Routines as a Strategy for Developing Elementary Students’ Conception of Proof.” Videos of Sarah’s classroom teaching have been used around the country for professional learning.
