Fulfilling a lifelong desire to study abroad

My passion for Spanish language will continue to inspire me to learn and grow both in and outside of the classroom.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to study abroad.

I began Spanish classes in sixth grade, which presented me with a world of opportunity to learn about another culture and pursue another language. I continued Spanish through high school, realizing that the language skills I was learning were applicable to living and studying both in the USA and abroad. I began using these skills during my sophomore year of high school when I was involved in a youth leadership development program in Guatemala.

This experience peaked my interest and fueled my desire to study abroad in college.

I declared my Spanish major second semester of sophomore year. Since then, I applied for and was accepted to study abroad in Seville, Spain during the 2015-2016 academic year. It's been just over a month since I arrived in Seville. I can now say I've accomplished my lifelong goal to study abroad and have expanded my knowledge of Hispanic culture.

I realize that this experience will be one of many, as my passion for Spanish language will continue to inspire me to learn and grow both in and outside of the classroom.
