Mount Holyoke College has recently appointed two individuals to leadership positions: Hiram Ramirez as AVP for inclusion and innovation and Lindsay Adkins as AVP for marketing and communications.

Most recently, Ramirez served as AVP for inclusive excellence and strategic initiatives at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Before that, he served as director of inclusive student services and the Multicultural Dream Center at California State University Channel Islands, where he led a Black/African American identity–based summer program for high school students and developed the SafeZone (LGBTQ+ awareness) and Undocumented Student Ally trainings. He also helped grow Promoting Achievement Through Hope, a program that supports students who are fostered, adopted, in guardianship or in kinship care or those who have experienced housing instability.

His first full-time job in higher education was at Agnes Scott College, a gender-diverse women’s college, where he served as a graduate intern in Title IX compliance, director of campus life and student engagement, and assistant director of campus life and intercultural engagement.

“I am excited to be joining the vibrant Mount Holyoke community,” Ramirez said. “From my first South Hadley visit to my early campus partner meetings, it [has been] clear that Mount Holyoke students, faculty, staff and alums are committed to growing together and living into our mission — one that is now more critical than ever.”

Adkins, who has served in the Office of Marketing and Communications since 2021, has more than a decade of experience in strategic communications, project management and cross-campus collaboration. Most recently, she served as director of internal communications and operations, where she led the development of new faculty and staff newsletters, strengthened internal messaging strategies and provided communications support for admission, advancement and presidential initiatives.

During her time at Mount Holyoke, Adkins has played a key role in communications for major institutional milestones, including the announcement and inauguration of President Danielle R. Holley, and streamlined the division’s project management systems to improve efficiency and impact.

Before joining Mount Holyoke, Adkins built her career in publishing, higher education and nonprofit communications, including roles at Penguin Random House and Stony Brook University.

“I am thrilled to continue collaborating with my exceptional colleagues in marketing and communications and developing our strong relationships with campus and external partners,” Adkins said. “I look forward to the upcoming year and the work we will do to further amplify and support the College’s mission and goals.”
