Andrea Whitcomb

Andrea Whitcomb has coached Mount Holyoke's field hockey team since 1998. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Physical Education Department teaching a variety of racquet sports, weight training, Fitness for Life and Ultimate Frisbee.

In 2001 and 2003 Whitcomb was named NEWMAC Coach of the Year and New England East Regional Coach of the Year by the National Field Hockey Coach's Association for her efforts in coaching the College's field hockey team to a NEWMAC Championship title.

In 2001 field hockey made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. And in its second NCAA tournament appearance in 2003 the team advanced to the second round, eventually falling to national champion Salisbury University.

In 2002 the field hockey team captured the ECAC Division III New England Championship with a 1-0 win over number one seed Clark University. And for the first time in 18 years, the team took the Seven Sisters Championship, winning over three-time undefeated champion Wellesley.

The team traveled to Great Britain in 2002 and 2006 for preseason training.

Whitcomb has coached one National All-American, six Regional All-Americans, and 40 Academic All-Americans over the past six years. She is the Division III National representative for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the National Chair of the Division III Senior All-Star Game, as well as a member of the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Committee.

President of The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) 2014-2016. She was the first Division III coach to hold the title.
