The Many Facets of Dance

Studying at MHC, gave me a breadth of experiences that have given me choices in my professional and personal goals.

Academic focus: Dance and English double major

Concentration: Choreography and Performance

Advanced Degrees: M.F.A. in Dance from the University of Iowa

As a student at Mount Holyoke, I had ample opportunities to explore dance and other interests which have fed into my work post-graduation. I double majored in Dance and English, which gave me a broader basis for my graduate studies as well as choreography.

I was the Artistic Director of the Student Dance Concert, which helped me learn the skills I have directly applied to running my own dance company and self-producing shows. I studied pedagogy, which helped in my teaching. I choreographed, performed, and worked backstage, giving me exposure to all aspects of the productions. I also took time off, with the support of the department and school, to dance with a ballet company. This experience fed into my creative and scholarly pursuits.

Studying at Mount Holyoke allowed me to have a breadth of experiences that have given me choices in my professional and personal goals. I am now a professor of dance, help run an international dance festival in Lebanon, present my work nationally and internationally, and enjoy days off at the beach. The experiences of Mount Holyoke taught me many facets of the work that I need to do within this field to achieve my goals.
