An international firstie at Mount Holyoke College shares what it was like coming to MoHome from more than 6000 miles away from campus.

Mount Holyoke College senior Anusha Lamsal ’25 reflects on her experience organizing Losar celebrations as part of the Nepali Student Org.

“I feel more confident and open-minded, open to doing things I would have been afraid to try before. I feel ready to take on challenges,” said Mount Holyoke College senior Sumaiya Jahan ’25.

Mayan Caplan ’25 shares how she made connections at Mount Holyoke: “It’s not just that everyone is really open and willing to connect; it’s that everyone is dazzlingly interesting, and I want to be in community with them.”

Mount Holyoke College has been a vibrant and safe second home for Mars Bickford ’25. “I don’t think I would have felt that I could explore my personal gender identity anywhere else,” they said.

Mount Holyoke College springie Callie Lantz ’27 is a committed psychology major. Since coming to MHC, she’s been able to broaden her horizons and explore the problem-solving thrills of calculus and computer science.

Emily Finnila ’27 discusses what it’s like to be a “springie” at Mount Holyoke. She has tips and tricks for quickly becoming a part of the community through clubs and activities.

I have stretched myself creatively in ways I previously never thought possible. I can’t wait to see what the rest of my Mount Holyoke career has in store for me.

“I’ve met amazing people that I still look to for friendship, and I’ve also met younger underclassmen whom I feel would definitely do an amazing job of taking over and continuing the legacy.”
